PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Arrow Projects is responsible for managing the construction of Daramalan College’s Performing Arts Centre at the northern perimeter of the existing school grounds, comprising of a landmark auditorium with advanced theatre capabilities, 11 practice studios and two large teaching spaces. The performing arts centre will be equipped with a staff room, kitchenette, bathrooms and dressing rooms. The surrounding landscaping will blend into the existing grounds and provide opportunities for outdoor learning areas including amphitheatre seating.
Chris McLaughlan as Project Director alongside Ian Barges as the Senior Project Manager were responsible for leading the Project team towards the successful outcome. Construction was completed while the school was operational with negligible disruption to staff and students.
The scope of work includes:
- Developing the client’s design to a compressive Tender status. Including commissioning and leading detailed peer review analysis.
- Integration of the specialist theatre design consultant discipline and developing a bespoke contracting strategy which balanced building design and construction risk with the desired level of controls.
- Leadership and detailed administration of the contractor procurement in a challenged market during a period of supply chain disruption. This required application of flexible and balanced approaches to risk developed through open negotiation with client, legal advisors and Tenderers.
- Coordination and leadership of onsite operations integration to college business.
- Risk analysis and leadership, including reporting and presenting to the college executive forums on a regular basis.
- Coordination of specialist engineering outcomes for technical functional spaces with very high specification. This includes coordination of quality assurance processes and commissioning by specialist providers.
